Mythology in Music

"Only the lover is 'full of god'" Pg. 86

September 6

Today in class, an interesting point was raised - the fact that there is mythology in music.  That got me thinking about all the music I listen to and was curious to see if there were any connections.  I thought of the name of a band I like: Sleeping With Sirens. The sirens were 2-5 fish-women, portrayed as seductresses who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island.

"Their song takes effect at midday, in a windless calm. The end of that song is death."

Maybe Sleeping With Sirens is portraying the fact that there are modern day "Sirens" out there that lure you in and then cause you harm.  Watch out for your siren :P
